Dear Friends,

I am sorry to inform you of the death of Joyce Newson last week. Joyce has been ill for a long time, but many of you will remember her. The Reguiem Mass for Joyce will take place on Monday 13th at 10.30 am.

KING’S LYNN RED MOUNT PROCESSION. Sunday 19th August at 3pm. From London Road Catholic Church to the Red Mount Chapel, followed by Tea. The Red Mount Chapel is like the Slipper Chapel at Walsingham; it was a place of rest for medieval pilgrims walking to Walsingham. All are welcome.

Fr Ben Grist, recently Ordained Priest is very ill. Please pray for him.

A YEAR OF FAITH Pope Benedict has announced a Year of Faith inviting Catholics to seek new ways of proclaiming it. The Year of Faith will open on 11th October, the 50th anniversary of the “Second Vatican Council” and the twentieth anniversary of the publication of “The New Catechism of the Catholic Church”.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION. Any Parents whose Children will be 8 years old next year and would like them to be prepared for First Holy Communion, please see Fr Tony.

FAKENHAM CARNIVAL 25TH AUGUST. Churches Together are to be involved, with a children’s activity area. We hope to be part of this in some way and are thinking about balloons and sweets. Help and ideas welcome.

THE CHRISTMAS SHOE BOX. I am sure you already know that there is power in a simple shoe box gift. But this goes far beyond just putting a smile on a child’s face. In fact, a shoebox is actually a powerful tool for global mission, helping your church reach children with the Gospel overseas and at home.

CWL will be organising this year’s collection at St Anthony’s with leaflets going out mid September and the boxes collected late October. Let us try to beat last year’s 74 boxes. Please start thinking about it now. Many thanks. Janice McLaren.
